Resorts World New York City has opened the International Room, a 13,657-square-foot high-limit table-games venue that the operator calls New York City’s first exclusive high-roller gaming destination. The opening on Oct. 22 gave the Queens casino its first dedicated premium gaming space less than seven months after it began offering live dealer games.
The room has 48 tables offering high-limit baccarat, roulette and blackjack, as well as three private gaming salons. It is New York City’s first legal high-stakes casino table-game venue, according to Casino.org.
Guests in the room receive dedicated hosted service, elevated drinks and 24-hour hot and cold dining without leaving the gaming floor. The private salons can be reserved and tailored to guests’ preferences, with entertainment options including karaoke.
Meghan Taylor, Genting Americas’ senior vice president of government affairs and public relations, said players previously had to leave the city for this level of service. She described the room as a milestone in Resorts World’s effort to create a world-class integrated resort in Queens.
Queens-born rapper Nas joined the unveiling. Resorts World opened the space as it marked 15 years of operating in Southeast Queens, where it began in 2011 as a gaming venue before becoming the city’s first full-fledged casino after launching live table games on April 28.
The International Room forms part of a first-floor expansion that added 57 table games and 147 slot machines. Resorts World now has nearly 300 live table games and more than 4,000 slot machines.
The operator broke ground on Phase II in July. Its planned $5.5 billion integrated-resort development includes 2,000 hotel rooms, a 7,000-seat arena, dozens of bars and restaurants, and 11 acres of green space.
Robert DeSalvio, president of development at Genting Americas East, said the company had prioritised opening the new space quickly in response to what players and visitors wanted.
